Donkey Kong is back in his new release, Country Adventures. After the island's volcano explodes, a series of Tiki idols are freed. Their hypnotic melody quickly brainwashes the other inhabitants of the island, in order to steal Donkey Kong's store of bananas. Along with Diddy Kong, DK battles the evil Tikis in order to retrieve their hoard and restore peace to DK Island.

The Tikis replace the Kremlings in this new game and you’ll meet Cranky Kong, who owns shops across the island and is the only Kong family member to appear alongside Donkey and Diddy.

Donkey Kong will be bouncing on the bad guys' heads and will be using his signature ground pound to disorientate his enemies and unveil secret items, as can Diddy. DK can also roll, blow items, throw barrels, smash objects, and jump. You’ll also see the return of some of the games’ classic elements, including mine carts – which are much more challenging than previous games - vine swinging and collecting the golden "KONG" letters.

Solo players can get help from Diddy and his jetpack. If you’re playing with a friend then they can hitch a ride on Donkey Kong’s back to get through the tricky bits and, if a player is killed in two-player mode, he can be brought back by hitting a DK Barrel that will come into view.

This game has double control schemes - the standard system using the Wii Remote in conjunction with the Nunchuk and by employing the Wii Remote held sideways - both systems use motion controls for the ground pound move. A time attack mode has been introduced for this game, as have at least two animal buddies - Rambi and Squawks. The game has a Super Guide feature too, so if you lose 8 lives in a single level, you have the option to allow Super Kong to take over and complete the level for you. Using this option however means that any collectibles obtained whilst Super Kong is playing will not count towards your end total.
