The latest viodeo games surrounding the phenomenon that is Pokemon hit the shelves in the UK on Friday 4th March 2011 with the release of 2 companion Nintendo DS games, Pokemon Black and Pokemon White. This March sees the launch of the 2 brand new Pokemon games, Pokemon Black and Pokemon White. They have been released alongside each other as companions, and both Pokémon White and Pokemon Black will be available to use on the handheld consoles Nintendo DS and all versions of DSi.
Both these games will bring you the traditional challenges of capturing wild Pokémon and then using the Pokemon you've captured to battle it out against other captured Pokemon, to determine who reigns supreme. You play as either a girl or a boy Trainer, and you will travel through the fictional new land called Unova, which although not real has been based on parts of New York including Manhatton. There are a number of landscapes and terrain to encounter, so it is highly likely you'll come across huge skyscrapers like in New York, as well as picturesque mountains and natural terrain.
Pokemon Black and Pokemon White versions also see the introduction of Team Plasma - a group of villains who steal other peoples Pokemon. On the game covers are the Legendary Vast White Pokémon Reshiram and the Deep Black Pokémon Zekrom, but each can only be caught in their respective versions. Reshiram can engulf its surroundings in flames and Zekrom can disappear inside thunderclouds and fly across the skies.

There are a number of New Features to Pokemon Black and Pokemon white, which include choosing your Starter Pokemon from a choice of 3, superbly improved graphics, access to Zekrom the Legendary Pokémon, the new region mentioned above Unova, new battle modes to enthrall you such as Triple battle and rotation battle.
A superb new feature encompassing the technology available these days gives you the knowhow and ability to trade your Pokemon using wireless technology for the first time, you'll also find multi player modes and much more.
In terms of new characters, well incredibly there are more than 150 to choose from, making a grand total of 649.

Your new adventures will start you off on with a trusty new Pokemon companion, who will be with you through thick and thin as you explore the brand new Unova region. There are three starter Pokémon to choose from; Snivy is a grass-type Pokémon, which means it has an advantage in battles against water-type and ground-type Pokémon. Tepig is a fire-type Pokémon and is strong in battles against grass-type and ice-type Pokémon. Oshawatt is a water-type Pokémon, so it is super effective against fire-type Pokémon in battle. Players can use Pal Park or the new Pokemon Shifter device, to take Pokemon from other games and transfer them to both versions. You can also choose the order you battle the Elite Four, but you must beat all four of them back-to-back to go on to face the Champion. In addition to the single and double battle, are the new triple battles and rotation battles. There’s exciting plot twists and game play features in this brand new launch, which is available from 4th March 2011
